Modern Condominiums and Residence
Sausalito, CA
Completed: 2010

This project, located directly across the street from the Bay and offering uninterrupted views of the Tiburon Peninsula and San Francisco, consists of two separate residential structures.

The front two-unit structure responds in mass and modulation to the street, while it stylistically draws inspiration from Sausalito's nautical history. Hidden behind two teak lined entries and a large teak door is a six car parking garage. Each 2,000 sf unit has three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The main living areas open to the views with broad folding glass doors. Wood floors warm the clean and fresh interior palette. The Master Bathrooms have glass tiles on the floors and walls.

Perched on the cliff overlooking the front building, the rear structure is a dramatic counterpoint to its neighbor. Taking its queues from the site and from the client's modern sensibilities, the rear building is a 2,100 sf glass and steel structure starting thirty feet from grade. An elevator opening to the auto court takes guests to the first and second levels. There is also a glass and steel stairway connecting each of the three floors. The entire top floor is a master suite, with a master bedroom and terrace, a coffee bar, an office, a dressing room, and a master bathroom with its own private terrace.
