Rammed Earth Villa Over-looking the Sonoma Valley, this 5,000 square foot Tuscan inspired house is constructed with rammed earth and pisé (Pneumatically Installed Stabilized Earth) walls. The 18" thick salmon-colored walls composed of a mixture of native soils and cement, along with the standing seam copper roof blend the home with its landscape. The house consists of two distinct wings connected by a curving, 20 foot tall Great Room which is oriented to take advantage of sweeping views of Sonoma's wine country. Just outside the Great Room, a 40' long lap pool with vanishing edge accentuates this view. Large folding doors open to create 12 foot wide openings which link the interior to a series of outdoor terraces. |
